Many of the area’s buildings have ties back to much earlier days in the community. Some of these local, historical sites like Robert Shield’s tannery, are today private homes. Others, like The Central Hotel, now host offices for local businesses. The playhouse has been around for more than fifty years, and hosts a variety of family-friendly productions throughout the year. The Johnny Appleseed Childrens Theatre organizes performances performed by some the community’s youngest residents.
